Lifeline Assistance for Kentucky Residents

What is Lifeline?

Lifeline is a federal program that provides qualified Cumberland Connect subscribers a discount on monthly telephone or Internet services. These discounts will help ensure that low-income households can have access to Internet & Phone services, with no data caps, that connect them to jobs, family, education, and emergency services.

The Lifeline Discount

Through the Lifeline program, qualifying members residing in Kentucky can receive a $9.25 monthly discount on Internet service or combined Internet and telephone service; or a $5.25 monthly discount on telephone-only service. In addition, Kentucky Lifeline customers are eligible to receive $6 per month per Lifeline customer under the Kentucky Universal Service Fund (KUSF). Kentucky customers may be eligible for an additional discount from the Affordable Connectivity Program (an additional $30 per month).

Eligible subscribers can receive one Lifeline discount on a qualifying service (phone or Internet, but not both) per household, not per person, and a household can get a Lifeline discount from only one provider.

Lifeline Discount Chart

The Lifeline discount is non-transferable and is limited to one discount per household. If someone at your address already receives lifeline but you are part of separate households (e.g., roommates with separate finances) you may still qualify for Lifeline. Complete the Household Worksheet or Household Worksheet – Spanish to determine if there is more than one household at your address.

Do I Qualify?

You may qualify for Lifeline if you use any of these federal assistance programs:

  • • Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
  • • Medicaid
  • • Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
  • • Federal Public Housing Assistance
  • • Veterans Pension and Survivors Benefit

You may also qualify for Lifeline if your income is 135% or less than the federal poverty guidelines.

You will need to show proof of participation in one of the qualifying programs or proof of income when applying for Lifeline.

Cumberland Connect is not automatically notified of your registration and you must inform us after registering with the National Verifier before you can receive the Lifeline discount.
