Cumberland Connect recently reached a major milestone, surpassing 45,000 subscribers across our service area! What started as a vision to bring reliable, high-speed internet to our communities has grown into something much bigger, thanks to the members we serve every day.
To celebrate, we surprised our 45,000th subscriber, Dana M., during her installation appointment at her home in Hendersonville with a $450 bill credit. But more importantly, her story reflects exactly why Cumberland Connect was built in the first place.
A Long Time Coming
Dana has been a CEMC member for more than 13 years, and she had been watching closely as fiber construction expanded across the region. She previously lived in a rural area outside of Springfield.
“I have been watching the maps for years, waiting for service to get to our house,” she shared. Like many in rural areas, reliable internet was never guaranteed. Before fiber, her household relied on cellular hotspots and a local fixed wireless provider just to stay connected.
But once Cumberland Connect became available in her area, that changed immediately. “Cumberland Connect was an absolute game changer the moment it was connected for us.”
