Outdoor Wi-Fi – Yard

Ideal for patios, pools, firepits, and other backyard hangouts close to the home. This unit provides strong, reliable coverage for everyday outdoor spaces where you relax, entertain, or stream.

Designed for larger open areas like gardens, play spaces, or expansive yards. With extended, full-circle coverage, it keeps you connected as you move farther from the house.

Need Wi-Fi that goes the distance? This long-range directional unit can reach up to one mile with a clear line of sight—perfect for wide-open land, fields, or pasture areas where traditional coverage falls short.

Each plan offers a different level of coverage:

Yard: Up to 250 feet; capable of broadcasting 360° provided there are no structures or obstacles.

Acre: Up to 500 feet; capable of broadcasting 360° provided there are no structures or obstacles.

Field: Up to 1 mile in a 120° beam

Important note: Trees, terrain, and structures can affect signal range. The above coverage estimates assume a direct line of sight clear of any structures or obstacles—otherwise, signal range may be impacted.

Yes. You must be a Cumberland Connect internet subscriber and use our provided GigaSpire router to be eligible for Outdoor Wi-Fi service.

Plans start at $15/month and vary based on your coverage needs:

Yard – $15/month

Acre – $35/month

Field – $35/month

A one-time installation fee of $100 per device/equipment installed also applies.

Outdoor Wi-Fi is designed for outdoor scenarios and not for penetrating an external building or a detached garage. Walls or other structures can significantly reduce signal strength. For strong coverage inside additional buildings, we recommend installing an extender or hardwiring a separate unit. There is a one-time $100 installation fee per device/equipment installed, which includes:

  • Professional setup of your outdoor unit
  • Ethernet wiring from your existing router
  • Placement testing to ensure best possible coverage

If you do not wish to have the outdoor access point mounted to your home or business, you are responsible for providing a pole or other mounting structure prior to your installation appointment.

  • Please let us know when your order is placed that you will be providing your own mounting structure.
  • Members providing their own mounting structures must run conduit from the home or business to near the top of the structure, where the access point will be mounted.
  • Pole mounting is an option. Acceptable poles can be no more than 3 inches in diameter and must be able to support equipment weight of up to 12 pounds. Poles larger than 3 inches are not able to be installed.
  • Posts: Acceptable posts can be a 4×4 pole or larger.
  • All poles or posts should be placed with a concrete base to prevent the structure from falling and damaging equipment.
  • Structure Mounting – If mounting to any structure, please provide a hard, flat surface that can be screw mounted.
  • Recommended height – No more than 20ft. Minimum 8ft. The more visible the mounting location at the top of the pole, the better Wi-Fi coverage you will have.

We’re launching Outdoor Wi-Fi in phases, and plan to begin the first wave of installations starting Fall 2025. Installations will be scheduled in waves as we expand availability.
