CCFiber TV: Sun Outages
It’s that time of year again — a sun outage is in effect. This Fall’s sun outage will begin on October 4th and end on October 9th. The strongest impact will likely be during the afternoon around 11am-3pm, especially on October 5-7.
If you notice channels being briefly interrupted during this time, it could be from this sun outage. Twice a year in the fall and spring, around October and March, the sun aligns so that TV satellites are directly between the sun and the receiving dishes at our headend facilities. The satellites become overpowered by the sun’s energy which results in a loss of signal. During this time, you may experience some degree of television interference, such as a pixelated picture, picture freezes, or audio distortions for a brief period of time.
The exact time and duration will vary from channel to channel. This is due to channels being received off different satellites in the arc. Each satellite is affected at a different time as the sun moves across the satellite arc.
We apologize for any inconvenience a sun outage may cause. We appreciate your patience during this event, and your services should return to normal quickly following any interruptions. If you notice a channel is out longer than about 10 minutes, please our Technical Support team by calling (800) 987-2362 and selecting option 2.
