What to expect after launch and beyond…

We are so excited to announce that Cumberland Connect fiber services officially launches May 1, 2020!

We want to thank our employees and crews who have been so committed to this mission and it’s purpose — our members. They have all worked tirelessly to reach this milestone and we definitely aren’t slowing down! Read below about what to expect after launch of CCFiber.

Q: What happens now?

A: We will be opening “zones” (zones are sections within areas where fiber construction has been completed) beginning in the Dover area which is where we began our fiber construction. New zones will be opened as quickly as possible as we progress through all areas within Phase 1. Please see the zone map below (after progressing through the depicted zones, we will continuing moving to other areas, opening new zones, throughout all of Phase 1).

Q: Will all of Phase 1 go live at once and services become available at the same time at launch?

A: No. Geographically speaking, Phase 1 is very large and construction is still underway. Our Phase 1 plan is aggressive as we are projecting to pass over 15,000 homes and be completed by the end of 2020. If your service address isn’t included in the initial zones to be opened, don’t worry, our crews and employees will be working daily to expand service availability to your area.

Q: How will members be notified when they can sign up for CCFiber services?

A: When a new zone is opened, we will notify our members in those areas that services are now available for sign up in the following ways:

  • We will send a postcard to each service address notifying members they can sign up for CCFiber. 
  • Members who have provided us with an email address will also receive an email notification the minute sign-ups open in their area!

Upon launch on May 1, 2020, we will begin by opening Zone 1 in the Dover area. Afterwards, we will progress through the area depicted below and notify members as their zones and service sign-ups open. We will continue to announce our upcoming progress and zone openings throughout our project.

This zone map only depicts the very first zones we will be progressing through after launch (we are still working towards completing all of Phase 1 this year). After we have opened the first zone, completed the next steps preparing for installations, and have ongoing installations, we will work quickly to open the following zones AND open new zones — progressing through ALL of Phase 1 shown on our  Fiber Status Map

We will notify you when your zone is upcoming and again when sign-ups are open in your area. Once your zone has been opened, we will send a postcard to your service address and if you’ve provided us with your email, we’ll email you the minute you can sign up. Our Phase 1 construction is still projected to be complete by the end of 2020 and to pass over 15,000 homes. We will work quickly to get complete construction, open zones, and get members connected throughout Phase 1.

Don’t worry, if you’re not in one of these first 5 zones, we will be working quickly to get to you. You can see our projected progress for this year (2020) on our Fiber Status Map

As we work to connect members and make our way through Phase 1, we will announce upcoming zones as the fiber construction is completed in those areas via our monthly email updates.  New zone openings will be announced through email notification, postcards, and social media, so keep an eye out and we’ll let you know as soon as you can sign up.

We serve over 100,000 members and have a very large service territory. Our fiber network is being built from the ground up and will take time to complete (projected 5-6 years to complete construction). We are still in the process of planning our future phases and will update our Status Map once the next phase design is complete. Our employees and crews will continue to work daily to expand our network to our members throughout our service territory as quickly as possible. We are coming!
